Senior Accountant

Goldbelt, Incorporated is an urban, Alaska Native, for-profit corporation with locations in Juneau, Alaska and Herndon, VA.
Its primary purpose is to manage assets and to conduct business for the benefit of its shareholders, approximately 3,600 people, almost all of Alaska Native heritage.
Summary:
The Senior Accountant works closely with the operations team in maintaining the financial data and reporting for the Goldbelt, Inc.
subsidiary operations in Herndon.
The Senior Accountant is responsible for all daily accounting functions in support of this subsidiary, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, account reconciliations, monthly financial report preparation, line of credit monitoring, cash reporting, and other reporting responsibilities.
The Senior Accountant is responsible for all inter-company billings and reconciliations for all inter-company transactions involving the subsidiary.
The Senior Accountant will work closely with other Senior Accountants who are responsible for accounting of Goldbelt, Inc.
subsidiaries and other personnel as necessary.
Essential Job Functions:
Oversee the accounts payable function by reviewing/posting accounts payable, monitoring accounts payable to ensure timely payment and assisting in processing of accounts payable.
Duties will include review and approval of accounts payable for other subsidiaries.
Monitor, review and process expense reports in the accounting system including review of supporting documentation to ensure costs are allowable, properly supported and properly approved Maintain electronic files to ensure proper document retention for all transactions processed Reconciliation of all accounts.
Reconciliation includes preparation of schedules to support all account balances.
Inter-company account reconciliation for inter-company payables and receivables to ensure accounts properly reconcile and balance between Goldbelt, Inc.
Herndon and its subsidiaries Provides customer service support for questions and requests from other accounting team members, subsidiary staff and executive management Responsible to provide supporting documentation in conjunction with audits or similar activities Responsible to ensure data recorded the in-accounting system for all transactions processed is accurate and timely Ensures adherence to standard deadlines and timely closing in accordance with established schedule Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
Strong planning and organizational skills to balance and prioritize work Experience working with Deltek Costpoint Accounting degree with experience performing account reconciliations and financial report preparation.
Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with Accounting team members, operational staff, external parties and upper management.
Accounting team functions on a team approach to complete large project.
Good communication skills for communicating within the organization and with external parties Experience with Microsoft Office including Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Excel Minimum
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience Minimum of 4 years of experience working with government contracting Government contract accounting experience and a working knowledge of relevant cost accounting principles, GAAP, as well as FAR regulations.
Experience with Deltek Costpoint required.
Preferred
Qualifications:
Experience operating in multi-subsidiary environments strongly preferred.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
