_IT Systems Engineer III:_
Provides advanced laboratory support by testing and diagnosing transport backbone equipment, sub-tending devices, workstation/server equipment and user applications/services for a production network.
Composes and reviews test plans, conducts extensive testing, and completes test reports within the Configuration Change Board (CCB) requirements. Install and maintain lab infrastructure in support of telecommunications network.
Pre-configure, verify and/or test out of box equipment prior to deployment. Maintain inventory levels in support of 24x7 operations.
Performs advanced troubleshooting as the internal escalation point of contact for complex and persistent trouble tickets.
Interacts extensively with internal engineering and support teams as well as with Tier IV support engineers of various hardware/software vendors to solve tough problems.
Interacts closely with network engineers, security personnel, program managers and vendors to establish system requirements and design technical solutions to meet critical network performance criteria.
Performs advanced diagnostics using software and hardware tools to determine network status and optimize network performance.
Develops and implements detailed standard operations procedures dealing with laboratory operations.
Provides project status to management. Provides after-hours support on an on-call basis, as required.
# Job Requirements
JOB QUALIFICATIONS and COMMENTS:
_This position requires a Active DoD, Top Secret/SCI Clearance._
Familiar with Centurylink telecommunications installation and testing standards required. Ciena or similar vendor long haul optical equipment certifications and training are highly desired.
BICSI certification desired.
Bachelor's degree in an Information Technology field and three years experience or seven years applicable work experience required.
Experience in a laboratory environment or data center required.
Telecom DC Power knowledge/experience highly desired.
Equipment installation and cable fabrication experience highly desired.
Must be able to lift 50lbs.
The responsibilities of these positions will continue to grow as additional portions of the network are accredited and achieve operational status, and as additional customer groups are added to the network.
The network is expected to sustain continual growth to include additional sites and customers across the life of the program.
These positions represent the testing and verification of all aspects of the network for an extremely high visibility project.
