patching, database performance monitoring, and customer supportWhen necessary the candidate will troubleshoot database performance issues and recommend appropriate actionCandidate will work closely with members of the project team, product subject matter experts, end users, and software engineers to ensure that the application remains operational by monitoring Fperformance, providing technical assistance, and consultation to usersAdditional duties will include supporting system administrators, developing tools to assist in management of systems, ensuring application documentation (e.g., System Administration Guides, SOPs, Installation Procedures, etc.), and performing daily application/database backupsPosition Description:
o Maintains the integrity, security and availability of multiple database(s) to include monitoring for availability and performance, diagnosing and troubleshooting issues that arise, performing routine maintenance, performance analysis and tuning, disaster backup and recovery, index maintenance, and monitoring of data and capacity planning. Administers, maintains, develops and implements policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of all databases (Development, Test, Production). In coordination with application system administrators, plan and schedule maintenance including routine and emergency security patching for database management systems and platforms in the production environment. Obtains and maintains applicable privileged user accounts in compliance with DIA security regulations, completing all applicable annual user training. Maintains access control settings, user accounts and password resets, performing database backups, and reviewing and archiving log files. Evaluates and recommends available database management system (DBMS) products. Provide support to platform system administrators by providing analysis and recommendations for any system or performance improvements. Performs database and software life-cycle activities to ensure highest level of system performance and availability and compliance with business requirements. Coordinating with vendors to resolve issues and obtain application patches to resolve database server software related defects. Performs Oracle and PostgreSQL database and application server administration. Qualifications:
o Requires 8 years with BS/BA, or 6 years with MS/MA, or 4 years with PhD; an additional 4 years of experience can be considered in lieu of a degree.o Proficient in Oracle 19c. Active TS/SCI with ability to obtain a polygraph Proficient with Oracle PL/SQL and RMAN Familiarity with PostgreSQL Experience with Windows Server 2016 and 2019 Experience with Oracle WebLogic Experience with JBOSS, Apache, Tomcat, Java Experience with Linux (CENTOS, RHEL) Active CompTIA Security
CE Certification. DoD 8570 Certification in a primary DBMS (PostgreSQL and/or Oracle) Ability to work after hours and weekends, when needed for deploymentsPreferred
