Provides planned, skilled nursing care for patients in the critical postoperative period.
Provides continuous patient surveillance for early recognition and immediate response to medical or surgical complications that may arise in any postoperative patient.
Primary Functions & Accountabilities Effectively organizes time, equipment, supplies, and personnel for management of the operatory.
Organizes nursing activities efficiently; considers staff abilities when delegating Uses equipment effectively by anticipating patient needs and providing necessary Confirms that proper techniques and procedures are used according to accepted standards Assists in inventory of supplies, drugs, and equipment to maintain availability and stock levels in postoperative Considers cost-effectiveness in the provision of Maintains order and cleanliness of postoperativePerforms safe and individualized nursing care for the patient in the immediate postoperative/ post- anesthesia.
Assesses and documents the patient's physical and emotional status upon arrival in the PACU Documents post-anesthesia care and identity of second person in the PACU during the patient's recovery from anesthesia/sedation according to approved policies and Provides nursing care to meet patient needs related to surgical condition and type of anesthesia Monitors patients and informs surgeon or anesthetist of observed Responds in a timely manner to meet the needs of the patient and Accurately comprehends and interprets verbal orders and Documents patient care records and other forms accurately according to Facility Accurately advises others responsible for patient care about the patient's
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures within PACU nursing Knowledge and experience in the perioperative care of surgical patients Excellent communication skills Ability to respond effectively to emergencies, actual events or drills Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient and employee information Job Type:
